Junior High Boys, NTC Tourney Results -- Dec. 2-3

The Seventh-Grade Boys National Trail Conference Basketball Tournament got underway during the weekend.

In Friday action, St. Elmo/Brownstown defeated Windsor, 30-26, Sigel St. Michael won over Altamont, 34-21 and Effingham Sacred Heart defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 35-17. 

In Saturday play, Dieterich won over St. Elmo/Brownstown, 55-7 whlie Neoga edged North Clay (Louisville), 31-27.

Stewardson-Strasburg beat St. Michael, 41-21. Stew-Stras took an 8-0 opening quarter lead and led 19-5 at halftime.

Three players hit double figures for the winners. Bible tallied 16 while Duncan and Debolt added 10 each. Stew-Stras improved to 9-4.

St. Michael was led by Strohl and Dittamore with seven points each.

Sacred Heart edged South Central, 25-23.

The tournament continues today with St. Elmo/Brownstown taking on North Clay at 6 p.m. followed by St. Michael meeting South Central at 7:15, both games in consolation bracket play.

Tuesday's games include Dieterich against Neoga at 6 and Stew-Stras meeting Sacred Heart at 7:15 in winner bracket action.

The tournament comes to a close Thursday with the consolation championship at 5:30, the third place game at 6:45 and the championship at 8.

At Olney

Teuotpolis won over Olney in seventh- and eighth-grade play Friday.

The Wooden Shoes stepped out to a 22-12 halftime lead and had a 16-2 third period run in the seventh-grade contest.

Payne Davidson and Jake Probst scored 16 points each for the winners.

In the eighth-grade game, T-town ripped out to a 21-9 opening quarter lead and never looked back in a 55-38 win.

Andy Lustig scored 17 and Teagan Pals 10 for the Shoes.

At Olney

In Saturday action, Effingham St. Anthony spilt victories with Olney.

The Bullpups captured the seventh-grade contest, 44-41.

St. Anthony took a 29-18 halftime lead then held off Olney in the second half.

Conner Storm scored 22 for the Bullpups while Jonny Gannaway added 18.

In the eighth-grade contest, Olney edged St. Anthony, 36-34.

Olney held a 19-14 halftime lead. Both teams scored eight in the third period. St. Anthony came back with a 12-9 final quarter run but fell short.

G. Wilhour scored 15 for the Bullpups.
