Several area teams captured championships in eighth-grade girls basketball regionals Thursday evening.

 

Class 8-1A Decatur Lutheran Regional

Sigel St. Michael came out the champion in the Decatur Lutheran Regional.

The Sharpshooters beat Pana Sacred Heart, 46-23.

St. Michael will now face Martinsville Wednesday, December 7 at the Pana Sacred Heart Sectional at 6:30 p.m.

 

Class 8-1A Martinsville Regional

Host Martinsville came out the champion in its own regional Thursday.

Martinsville edged Oakland Lake Crest, 25-22.

Martinsville now meets Sigel St. Michael Wednesday, December 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Pana Sacred Heart Sectional.

 

Class 8-2A Casey-Westfield Regional

Dieterich won the championship of the Casey-Westfield Regional Thursday.

Dieterich edged Edwards County (Albion), 40-38.

Dieterich will face either Stewardson-Strasburg or Brownstown/St. Elmo at the Effingham St. Anthony Sectional Wednesday, December 7 at 6:30 p.m.

Stew-Stras and BSE will meet tonight for the champiosnhip of the Stew-Stras Regional.

 

Class 8-2A Stewardson-Strasburg Regional

Brownstown/St. Elmo claimed the championship of the Stew-Stras Regional.

It was still the semifinals at the Stew-Stras Regional Thursday.

Brownstown/St. Elmo defeated Effingham St. Anthony, 40-27 in the opener.

Leading St. Anthony was Denning with 11 points. The Bullpups end the season 14-10.

In the second contest, Stewardson-Strasburg won over Altamont, 46-28.

BSE and Stew-Stras meet tonight for the regional championship. The winner advances to the St. Anthony  Sectional Wednesday, December 7 at 6:30 p.m. and will meet Dieterich.

Class 8-3A Robinson Nuttall Regional

Robinson Nuttall won the championship of its own regional by edging Teutopolis, 28-25 Thursday evening.

Nuttall edged out to a 10-8 opening quarter lead but T-town came back to lead 15-13 at halftime. The Wooden Shoes then had a 10-3 third quarter to lead 25-16. But here came Robinson with a 12-0 final quarter run to pull out the victory.

T-town was led by C. Hoene with nine points. The Shoes end the season at 20-6.

Robinson Nuttall advances to the St. Joseph Sectional Wednesday, December 7 at 6:30 p.m .and will meet Paris Mayo.

Class 8-4A Taylorville Regional

Taylorville captured the championship of its own regional with a 35-19 win over Mount Zion.

Taylorville will meet either Danville North Ridge or Champaign Edison Wednesday, December 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Mahomet-Seymour Sectional. Those two teams play tonight at the Mahomet-Seymour Regional.
