Eighth-Grade Girls Basketball Regionals -- Nov. 28

Class 8-1A Decatur Lutheran Regional

Findlay Okaw Valley ended Effingham Sacred Heart's season in the first game of this regional, 38-25.

In the second contest, Pana Sacred Heart won over Neoga, 49-9.

The third game went to Decatur Lutheran over Taylorville VisionWay, 40-29.

Findlay Okaw Valley advances to face Sigel St. Michael at 5:30 p.m. today while Pana Sacred Heart meets Decatur Lutheran at 6:30. The winners advance to the championship Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Class 8-1A Martinsville Regional

North Clay (Louisville) picked up a first round victory at the Martinsville Regional Monday.

North Clay won over Palestine, 36-24. North Clay advances to meet Martinsville at 7:30 p.m. today.

In the opening contest, Hume Shiloh won over Chrisman Scottland, 31-5. Hume Shiloh faces Oakland Lake Crest at 6 p.m. today.

Class 8-2A Stewardson-Strasburg Regional

Effingham St. Anthony downed Ramsey in the Stew-Stras Regional Monday evening, 35-14.

St. Anthony held a 15-10 halftime lead before finishing out with a 16-2 final quarter for the winning margin.

Denning tallied 12 while Lauritzen added 10 in the win for the Bullpups.

St. Anthony advances to meet top-seeded Brownstown/St. Elmo at 6 p.m.

In the second game, Altamont defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 31-24.

CHBC held a 12-5 opening quarter lead but Altamont came back to pull within 18-16 at halftime then moved ahead with a 10-6 third quarter and finished with a 5-0 final period.

Nelson and Higgs scored eight points each for the winners.

CHBC was led by Doty with 10.

Altamont will now meet second-seeded Stewardson-Strasburg at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Class 8-3A Robinson Nuttall

Only one game was contested Monday at the Robinson Nuttall Regional.

Marshall claimed a 36-22 win over Cumberland.

Marshall now advances to face top-seeded Teutopolis at 6 p.m. today. In the second game today, Jasper County meets Robinson Nuttall at 7:15.

Class 8-4A Taylorville Regional

Charleston captured a 30-19 victory over Mattoon in the opening game of the Taylorville Regional Monday.

In the second contest, Mount Zion downed Stephen Decatur, 33-12.

Charleston will face Taylorville at 5 p.m. today followed by Mount Zion taking on Effingham at 6:15.

The winners advance to the championship game Thursday.
