St. Anthony Girls Claim Robinson Championship

St.Anthony claimed the championship of the Robinson Basketball Tournament.

ROBINSON -- Effingham St. Anthony captured the championship of the Robinson Girls Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament Saturday.

In the first game for the Bulldogs Saturday, they tallied a 54-43 win over Fairfield. 

St. Anthony ran out to a 19-13 opening quarter lead as Nancy Ruholl connected on two three-pointers and Lucy Fearday knocked in a basket and was four of four at the line for six points. Aydsen Rios scored five.

The Bulldogs led 30-24 at halftime and 38-31 going into the final quarter then had a 16-12 run.

Fearday scored 22 points while Ruholl finished with 10 for the Bulldogs.

Then St. Anthony squared off against Robinson for the championship and totally dominated with an 81-57 victory.

The Bulldogs raced out to a 28-10 opening quarter lead and the game was never in doubt.

Fearday got the Bulldogs off in the right direction with a 12-point opening quarter.

Fearday led the way as four players hit double figures. She tallied eight field goals, one a three-pointer, and was five of six at the line for 22 points. Stacie Vonderheide added 18 while Ruholl scored 15 and Addi Nuxoll finished with 13.
