Effingham St. Anthony Thanksgiving Tournament
Highland 55, Mattoon 28
Robinson 81, Effingham 66 (the Hearts bounced back from a tough game against Breese Central Tuesday night to play a much better contest against Robinson. Robinson held a 16-14 lead after one quarter, but extended the lead to 38-29 at halftime. Effingham got on a roll and came back to tie the game at one point before the Maroons regrouped to lead 59-46 after three quarters. Robinson outscored Effingham 22-20 in the final period. Effingham shot 46% from the field, 23 of 50, including 5 of 21 threes. The Hearts made 13 of 21 free throws, turned the ball over 12 times and grabbed 19 rebounds. Robinson made 30 of 55 shots, including 7 of 16 threes, made 14 of 26 foul shots, pulled down 30 rebounds and turned the ball over just six times. Garrett Wolfe led Effingham with 22 points, Andrew Splechter scored 17 points and Logan Heil had 13 points. Andrew Donaldson was also in double figures with 12 points, and Ethan Jones scored the other two points. Noah Gilmore with 23 points and Aidan Parker with 22 points paced the Robinson attack)
Breese Central 50, St. Anthony 34 (Breese Central played a remarkable game in defeating the Bulldogs by 16 points. The Cougars led the game start-to-finish, up 12-5 after one quarter, 24-14 at halftime, and 39-24 after three quarters. St. Anthony made 14 of 34 shots, 41%, including 4 of 17 threes. The Bulldogs shot just three foul shots, making two, had just 12 rebounds, and turned the ball over 12 times. The Cougars made half their shots, 17 of 34, including 3 of 11 threes, made 13 of 19 free throws, grabbed 17 rebounds, and committed just seven turnovers. Brock Fearday led St. Anthony with 15 points, but no one else had more than three points. Cody Dickshot led Central with 19 points and Mason Shubert scored 13 points)

Effingham 48, Flora 18 (the Lady Hearts remained undefeated on the young season with a convincing win. Effingham was up 18-4 after the first quarter, led 33-7 at halftime, and were up 45-14 after three quarters. Bria Beals led Effingham with 12 points. Also for Effingham: Madison Mapes 9, Saige Althoff 8, Ella Niebrugge 7, Averie Wolfe 6, Taylor Greene 3, Marissa Allie 2, and Olivia Moser 1. Effingham plays Altamont at 1:30pm Friday in Newton tournament action)
