Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg tallied two victories over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in junior high girls basketball action Friday.

WSS won the seventh-grade game, 31-11 by holding CHBC scoreless through the first half while moving to an 18-0 lead.

Edie Wittenberg led the way for the winners with 16 points.

CHBC was led by Allison Shields with six. CHBC dropped to 9-13.

In the eighth-grade game, WSS was a 49-19 winner. WSS had a 20-7 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Kendra Hayes scored 20 points while Myra Friese added 15.

CHBC was led by Lainey Nohren with eight. CHBC fell to 10-12.

At Beecher City

At Sigel

Three games were contested in the Class 7-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional Saturday.

Neoga downed Taylorville VisionWay, 34-27 in the opener. St. Michael pounded Findlay Okaw Valley, 61-20 in the second contest and Decatur Lutheran rounded out the day with a 38-19 win over Effingham Sacred Heart.

Tonight's games feature Neoga against Pana Sacred Heart at 6 followed by St. Michael taking on Decatur Lutheran at 7:15.

 

At Martinsville

Two games were contested at the Class 7-1A Martinsville Regional Saturday.

Hume Shiloh downed Chrisman Scottland, 24-15 and Martinsville won over Palestine, 26-11.

Tonight's games feature North Clay (Louisville) against Hume Shiloh at 6 and Oakland Lake Crest facing Martinsville at 7:30.

 

At St. Anthony

Two games were contested in the Class 2A Effingham St. Anthony Regional Saturday.

Brownstown/St. Elmo won over Ramsey, 20-16 while Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City downed St. Anthony, 29-18.

Today's games feature Altamont against Brownstown/St. Elmo at 6 p.m. followed by Stewardson-Strasburg taking on CHBC at 7:15.

 

At Casey

In the Class 7-2A Casey-Westfield Regional, Oblong was a 30-13 winner over Dieterich while Edwards County (Albion) trounced Red Hill (Bridgeport), 42-8.

Tonight's games feature South Central taking on Oblong at 6 p.m. followed by Casey-Westfield meeting Edwards County at 7:15.

 

At Teutopolis

Cumberland fell to Lawrenceville Parkview in the opening game of the Class 3A Teutopolis Regional by one point, 24-23.

In the second contest, Robinson Nuttall downed Marshall, 33-13.

Teutopolis will face Lawrenceville Parkview at 6 p.m. today followed by Jasper County taking on Robinson Nuttall at 7:15.

 

At Mount Zion

Effingham was a winner in opening round play of the Class 7-4A Mount Zion Reginonal Saturday.

In the opening contest, Mattoon easily handled Charleston 28-5.

Effingham then downed Stephen Decatur, 32-22.

The two teams were knotted at 8-8 after the opening quarter and Effingham edged ahead 18-17 at halftime. The Mustangs then had a 14-5 second half.

Alaina Miller and Emery Spicer scored 10 points each for Effingham.

The Mustangs move into a Tuesday night contest at 7:30 against Taylorville. In the opening game Tuesday, Mount Zion meets Mattoon at 6.
