TEUTOPOLIS -- Effingham edged Teutopolis 24-23 in eighth-grade girls basketball action Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes ran off to a 12-3 opening quarter lead and led 17-9 at halftime. Effingham started a comeback with a 10-4 third period then had a 5-2 final quarter to claim the victory.

Drew Weis tallied nine for the Mustangs while Tessa Raddatz added seven.

T-town was led by Elise Pals with 10.

At Teutopolis

At Brownstown

Effingham St. Anthony called on Brownstown/St. Elmo and came back home with two losses Thursday evening.

BSE claimed a 20-13 win in the seventh-grade game. BSE held a 9-1 halftime lead. Koonce tallied nine points to lead BSE.

St. Anthony was led by Budde with eight.

In eighth-grade play, BSE led 27-18 at halftime and had a 14-9 final quarter.

D. Haslett led the way for the winners with 19 points.

St. Anthony was led by Denning with 11 points while Frisbie had nine.
