Effingham St. Anthony captured the eighth-grade contest but fell in seventh-grade girls basketball play Monday.

Mattoon was a 13-10 winner in the seventh-grade game. Mattoon held the Bullpups scoreless over the second and third quarters.

Stephens scored three for the Bullpups.

In eighth-grade action, St. Anthony was a 27-20 winner.

St. Anthony broke a 4-4 opening quarter tie with an 11-0 second period. Frisbie scored 10 and Denning eight for the winners.

At Vandalia

Teutopolis tallied two wins over Vandalia in Monday evening action.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade game, 27-8, outscoring Vandalia 18-4 in the first half.

Twelve players scored in the game led by Shue with six and Kocher with four. T-town improved to 19-3.

In the eighth-grade contest, T-town was a 43-10 winner. T-town held a 29-2 halftime lead.

The Shoes were led by Gaddis with 11, Pals with 10 and Borries with 10. T-town improved to 18-4.

At Flora

North Clay (Louisville) and Flora split victories Monday.

North Clay won the seventh-grade game, 24-11.

Flora claimed the eighth-grade contest, 28-21.

North Clay is back in action today at Sandoval.
