CHBC, BSE, Neoga Claim Wins, Girls Basketball Roundup

Three CHBC players finished in double figures. Macee Rodman led the way with 22 points closely followed by Gracie Heckert with 21 and Mady Wojcik with 14.

The Bobcats took a 20-13 opening quarter lead as Heckert knocked in two three-pointers and a regular basket. Roddman finished with eight points in the final quarter.

Ruby Stuckemeyer and Mady Wojcik pulled down nine rebounds each. Rodman had five steals and Heckert four. Heckert led in assists with seven.

South Central was led by Brooklyn Garrett with 13 points and Taegan Webster with 12.

In the junior varsity contest, CHBC was a 25-15 winner. CHBC was led by Averie Vaughn and Karlee Smith with eight each.

At Brownstown

Brownstown/St. Elmo opened the season by edging Neoga, 41-35 Monday in overtime.

Cumberland whipped out to a 13-4 opening quarter lead and led 20-15 at halftime. BSE came back with a 10-2 third quarter to pull ahead 25-22. The Pirates then came back with an 11-8 run to tie the score at 33-33, sending the contest into overtime.

In the overtime period, Ireland scored four points, Seabaugh a basket and Turco and Beall a free throw each for the winners. South Central had a lone basket by P. Dittamore.

Ireland led the way for the winners with 11 points while Seabaugh added 10.

Cumberland was led by A. Becker with 14 and K. Shoemaker with 12.

Neoga had big scoring second and third quarters in taking a 53-40 win over Moweaqua Central A&M Monday and Sydney Richards scored her 1,000th career point.

Central A&M led 10-6 after the opening quarter but here came the Indians. Neoga had a 16-8 second period and a 13-4 third quarter.

Richards led the way for Neoga with 18 points while Sydney Hakman added 13 and Haylee Campbell 10. Hakman knocked in three trifectas.

Neoga won't return to action until next Monday at Marshall.

Dieterich fell in its opener to Robinson by a 45-40 count Monday evening.

Robinson took a 9-4 opening quarter lead and led 20-13 at halftime. Dieterich took a 13-9 third quarter to pull within 29-26 but Robinson came back with a 16-14 final quarter for the five-point victory.

Kody Tegeler led the way for Dieterich with 14 points.
