BEECHER CITY -- Three games were contested in the National Trail Conference Eighth-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament Wednesday.

Sigel St. Michael was a winner over North Clay (Louisville), 37-11. The Sharpshooters ran off to a 14-5 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Scoring was even for the Sharpshooters as Cara Hatton and Kailyn Gaddis tallied nine each while Kaylie Jordan added eight.

North Clay was led by Leigha Ruskin with three points.

In the second game of the evening, Brownstown/St. Elmo was a winner over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 46-20.

BSE held a 20-6 halftime lead. Dayana Haslett led the way with 22 points while Danika Ramsey added 11.

CHBC was led by Haley Doty with 13.

Altamont was a 25-19 winner over Effingham Sacred Heart.

Sacred Heart took a 9-6 opening quarter lead but Altamont came back to move ahead by one at halftime, 14-13. Altamont then had an 8-2 third quarter to move ahead 19-15.  Altamont had a final 5-4 fourth period.

Cici Pearcy scored 10 while Reagan Kuenstler added nine for the winners.

The Shamrocks were led by Mara Braun with 10 and Brylee Wildbur with eight.

The tournament continues tonight as Sigel St. Michael faces Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at 6 followed by Brownstown/St. Elmo taking on Altamont at 7:15 in winner bracket action.

Friday's games feature North Clay against Dieterich at 6 and CHBC meeting Sacred Heart at 7:15 in consolation bracket action.

The tournament comes to a close Saturday with the consolation championship at 9 a.m., the third place game at 10:15 and the championship at 11:30.
