Mayo was a 26-19 winner in the seventh-grade matchup. Mayo ran off to a 13-3 opening quarter lead and that was the game. Effingham outplayed the visitors over the next three quarters by a 16-13 count but couldn't make up that first quarter.
Koenig led the way for the Mustangs with six points.
In the eighth-grade game, Paris Mayo led 12-8 at halftime then had a 20-5 second half run.
Effingham was led by Layla McBride with five points.

At St. Anthony
Effingham St. Anthony and Dieterich split victories Monday.
Dieterich edged the Bullpups, 16-15 in the seventh-grade game.
Dieterich held a 10-9 opening half lead before the two teams played to a 6-6 second half.
Boerngen led the way for the winners with eight points.
Budde led St. Anthony with nine points.
In eighth-grade action, St. Anthony was a 25-17 winner. The Bullpups held a 9-6 first half lead then had a 16-11 second half run.
Denning led the way with 12 points for the Bullpups.
Dieterich was led by L. Goebel and Meinhart with five points each.

At Mulberry Grove
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City handed Mulberry Grove two losses Monday evening.
The Bobcats claimed the seventh-grade game, 31-17. CHBC led 12-7 at halftime then had a 12-4 third quarter run.
Two players hit double figures for the winners. Carissa Wakefield led with 12 while Ethel Stuckemeyer added 10 as the team improved to 3-6.
In the eighth-grade contest, CHBC was a 38-21 winner.
The Bobcats took a 16-6 opening quarter lead and never looked back.
Haley Doty tallied 14 for the winners who now stand at 5-4.

Sigel St. Michael handed Teutopolis a 34-26 loss in eighth-grade action Monday.
The Sharpshooters held an 8-6 opening quarter lead and led 13-14 at halftime.
Ordner led the way for the winners with 13 points.
T-town was led by Kylie Borries with 15 as the team fell to 7-2.

At Louisville
Jasper County tallied two victories over North Clay (Louisville) Monday.
Jasper County won the seventh-grade contest, 36-12 and claimed the eighth-grade game, 37-32.
North Clay is back in action today against South Central in the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Tournament at Dieterich against South Central at 8 p.m. In the first two games, Neoga faces Dieterich at 5:30 p.m. followed by Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City against Effingham Sacred Heart at 6:45.
The tournament continues Wednesday and Thursday and finishes out with the finals Saturday.
