MATTOON -- Teutopolis Junior High School captured two victories over Mattoon in girls basketball competition Monday.

The Wooden Shoes improved to 2-0 in the seventh-grade matchup with a 35-7 win.

T-town held a 22-7 halftime lead. Tylor McMahon led the way with 10 points.

In eighth-grade action, T-town moved into an 8-0 opening quarter lead and led 18-3 at halftime. The Shoes went on for a 37-21 win.

Three players finshed in double figures. Jersey Gaddis had 12 points while Kylie Borries added 11 and Elise Pals 10. T-town is 2-0.

At Mattoon

At Strasburg

Sigel St. Michael came calling and won both games over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Monday.

The Sharpshooters moved out to a 14-4 opening quarter lead in seventh-grade play and went on for a 29-12 win.

Ordner led the way for St. Michael with 14 points while Ballinger added 10.

Vonderheide led Windsor/Stew-Stras (1-2) with four.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Michael was a 34-26 winner. The Sharpshooters took at 22-16 halftime lead.

Kollmann had eight points for the winners.

Hayes led Windsor/Stew-Stras with 12 points while Friese had eight. Stew-Stras dropped to 0-3 and returns to action tonight at Neoga.

At Strasburg

At Taylorville

Effingham St. Anthony traveled to Taylorville and fell in both games Monday.

Taylorville was a 45-8 winner in the seventh-grade contest. St. Anthony was led by Mitchell with four points.

In the eighth-grade contest, Taylorville held a 16-7 halftime lead and went on for a 38-23 victory.

Denning led the Bullpups with nine points.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City fell to Nokomis in both games Monday.

In the seventh-grade contest, Nokomis was a 37-15 winner, taking a 15-6 halftime lead.

CHBC was led by Ethel Stuckemeyer with six points. The squad fell to 1-4.

In eighth-grade action, Nokomis led 16-8 at halftime and went on for a 32-27 win.

CHBC was led by Haley Doty with 16 points and Lena Bowlin with eight. The squad dorpped to 3-2.

At Tower Hill

Pana Sacred Heart edged Effingham, 25-22 in eighth-grade basketball action Monday.

The Mustangs edged ahead 2-0 in the opening quarter and led 12-2 at halftime. Pana Sacred Heart came back with an 18-8 second half to tie the score at 20-20 sending the game into overime. Sacred Heart then had a 5-2 run to pull out the victory.

Effingham was led by Drew Weis with six points.
