Irving Staying With Nets; Griner Ordered To Stand Trial

Kyrie Irving is staying with the Brooklyn Nets, telling ‘The Athletic’ Monday that he’s opting in to his $36.5 million option with the team for next season.

He told ‘The Ahtletic,’ “Normal people keep the world going, but those who dare to be different lead us into tomorrow. I’ve made my decision to opt in.”

 

Griner Appears At Preliminary Hearing

WNBA star Brittney Griner, who has been held in Russia since February, appeared at a preliminary hearing Monday.

She was ordered to stand trial starting Friday on charges of cannabis possession, and her detention was extended for another six months, to December 20.

Russian authorities allege Griner was carrying vape cartridges containing hashish oil at a Moscow airport as she was returning to play for a Russian basketball team. If convicted, Griner could face 10 years in prison.
