Griner Phone Call Has Been Rescheduled, WNBA Scores

Administration officials said Tuesday that a phone call between WNBA star Brittney Griner, who’s been held in Russia since February, and her wife Cherelle Griner has been rescheduled after a planned call on Saturday didn’t happen.

Cherelle told AP the number Brittney was given to use at the U.S. embassy was unstaffed on the weekend. State Department spokesman Ned Price said they deeply regretted the mistake.

The call will be the first time the two have spoken since Griner’s arrest after Russian authorities claimed a search of her bag at a Moscow airport found vape cartridges containing cannabis oil.
