NTC Edges LPC In Central IL All-Star Game

The National Trail Conference defeated the Little Prairie Conference, 87-83 in the Central IL All-Star Boys Basketball Game Sunday. The game features senior players from each conference.

The NTC trailed 37-34 after the opening half. Effingham St. Anthony's Craig Croy led the way for the NTC with six points.

Connor Brown (Cerro Gordo/Bement) led the way for the LTC with eight points.

In the second half, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg's Sam Vonderheide went to work. Vonderheide put in three trifectas and five two-pointers for 19 points to lead the NTC to the 87-83 victory.

Vonderheide finished with 22 points and was named the NTC Most Valuable Player. Also in double figures for the NTC squad were Croy with 10. South Central's Johannes Spencer and Keenin Willshire tallied nine each.

Brown finished with 15 for the LPC while Cale Roley (Okaw Valley) tallied 14 and Gannon Harshman (Decatur LSA) scored 11. Brown was named the LPC Most Valuable Player.

The three-point champion was Altamont's Noah Klimpel.

Coaches for the National Trail Conference were Cody Rincker (Effingham St. Anthony) and Greg Feezel (St. Elmo/Brownstown). Coaches for the LPC were Colten Reeves (Blue Ridge) and Hunter Green (Blue Ridge).

Officials were Lucas Goldstein, Jared Smith and Hunter Michl.

The All-Star Director is Cumberland High School's Justin Roedl.
