Effingham High School Girls Basketball Award Winners Named

Effingham High School award winners in girls varsity basketball were, left to right, Sawyer Althoff, Meredith Schaefer, Ella Niebrugge and Madison Mapes.
Effingham High School girls basketball athletes were honored at a banquet.
Award winners for the 2021-22 season were:
Rebound Leader (165), Meredith Schaefer; Assistant Leader (125), Sawyer Althoff; Steals Leader (86), Ella Niebrugge; Blocks Leader (15), Meredith Schaefer; Highest Free Throw Percentage (69%), Madison Mapes and Three-Point Field Goals (68), Meredith Schaefer.
Captains -- Sawyer Althoff, Madison Mapes and Ella Niebrugge.
Heart of the Team award went to Sawyer Althoff. Althoff also won the Best Defensive Player award, Hustle award and Miss Basketball award.
Meredith Schaefer claimed the Max Wolfe Sportsmanship award and the Most Valuable Player award.
Ella NIebrugge won the Hustle award and Madison Mapes captured the Most Improved award.
In junior varsity, Bria Beals was named Most Improved while Saige Althoff captured the Hustle award and Sidney Donaldson was named Best Defensive Player.
In freshman/sophomore, Mya Harvey was named Most Improved, Jerzi Bierman claimed the Hustle award and Best Defensive award went to Rylea Hodge.
Letterwinners were Sawyer Althoff, Meredith Schaefer, Coralin Ohnesorge, Krista Phillips, Madison Mapes, Ella Niebrugge, Marissa Allie, Olivia Moser, Rylea Hodge, Saige Althoff, Bria Beals and Sidney Donaldson.
