WNBA Star Brittney Griner Being Detained In Russia

Secretary of State Antony Blinken commented Sunday on WNBA star Brittney Griner being detained in Russia, saying, “There’s only so much I can say given the privacy considerations at this point. Whenever an American is detained anywhere in the world, we of course stand ready to provide every possible assistance, and that includes in Russia.”

Russia says Griner, who like many WNBA players was playing in Russia in the offseason, is being detained after customs found hashish oil in her luggage at an airport last month.
