North Clay, Altamont, S. Central Nab Regional Wins

North Clay edged Brownstown/St. Elmo, 47-42. BSE held the first quarter 13-9 lead and was ahead 23-20 at halftime.
But the Cardinals came back with a 16-5 third quarter surge as Alexis VanDyke connected on two three-pointers while Miah Ballard also had six points on three regular baskets.
The Bombers came back with a 14-11 final period behind Audrey Wilhour's seven points but couldn't make up that third quarter deficit.
Ballard finished with 17 points for the Cardinals. She scored nine of the team's 11 points in the final period. She hit five of six free throws in the final quarter.
Also in double figures for North Clay was Allison Czyzewski with 12.
BSE was led by Avery Myers with 12.
In the second contest, Altamont easily handled Ramsey by a 75-26 count.
The Indians held a 32-2 opening quarter lead and that was the game. Grace Nelson scored 17 of those 32 points, connecting on seven field goals and three free throws. The Indians held a 38-14 halftime tally.
Three players scored in double figures for Altamont. Nelson connected on 13 field goals and was four of eight at the line for 30 points while P. Osteen scored 11 and Kylie Osteen 10.
In the third game of the regional, South Central won over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, 53-46.
The Cougars took the early 20-11 opening quarter lead and led 31-24 at halftime. WSS pulled wtithin 43-36 going into the final period but South Central played even in the final period for the victory.
Laney Webster led the way for the Cougars with 12 points while Brooklyn Garrett and Brooke Cowger scored 10 each.
Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Ella Kinkelaar with 18 and Samantha Hayes with 11.
Tonight's games include top-seeded Neoga against North Clay at 6 p.m. followed by Altamont taking on South Central at 7:30 p.m. The winners advance to the championship game Thursday at 7 p.m.

Class 1A Cumberland Regional
Dieterich and Cumberland were winners in opening round play of the Cumberland Regional Saturday.
In the first contest, Dieterich downed Casey-Westfield 60-25. The Movin' Maroons stepped out to a 26-8 opening quarter lead and easily put this one in the victory column.
Kaitlyn Boerngen got the Maroons off in the right direction scoring 18 of the team's 26 points on five field goals, one of those a three-pointer, and seven of seven at the line.
Dieterich held a 45-20 halftime lead and led 52-23 going into the final period.
Boerngen finished with 22 points while Cortney Brummer added 12.
Cumberland was a 53-14 winner over Martinsville in the second contest.
The Pirates held a 20-2 opening quarter lead behind Katelyn Shoemaker with nine points and Zoe Mitchell's eight points.
Cumberland led 37-5 at halftime.
Shoemaker finished with 21 points for the Pirates with 10 field goals, one a three-pointer. Also in double figures was Mitchell with 14.
Tonight's games include Dieterich facing Effingham St. Anthony at 6 p.m. followed by Cumberland taking on Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at 7:30. The winners then advance to the championshp game Friday at 7 p.m.

Class 2A Marshall Regional
Newton was a big winner over Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville in the Marshall Regional Saturday.
The Eagles easily won by a 61-19 count.
In the second contest, Mount Carmel downed Lawrenceville, 41-22.
Only one game is on tap tonight, Newton will take on Fairfield at 7 p.m.
Mount Carmal advanced to meet Marshall at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The winners of those two games meet for the championship Thursday at 7 p.m.
Class 2A Salem Regional
In opening round games Saturday, Salem won over Carmi-White County, 55-49 and Flora downed Vandalia, 48-31.
Salem advances to face top-seeded Teutopolis tonight at 6 followed by Flora taking on Robinson at 7:30. The winners will meet for the regional championship Thursday at 7 p.m.
Class 3A Effingham Regional
This regional opens tonight as Mount Vernon faces Charleston at 6 p.m. followed by Effingham meeting Olney at 7:30.
The winners advance to the championshp Friday at 7 p.m.
