Effingham St. Anthony claimed the championship of the Class 8-2A St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional Saturday.
The Bullpups handily defeated North Clay (Louisville), 43-13.
St. Anthony advances to its own sectional Wednesday and will take on the winner of the Stewardson-Strasburg Regional, either Kincaid South Fork or Findlay Okaw Valley. Those two teams play tonight for the championship.
Class 8-4A Mount Zion Regional
Effingham saw its season come to a close at the Class 8-4A Mount Zion Boys Basketball Regional Saturday.
Mount Zion took an 8-4 opening quarter lead and led 13-7 at halftime. The Mustangs never did recover, trailing 18-11 after the third quarter and Mount Zion had a 16-9 final period run.
Effingham was led by James Wise with five points. The Mustangs ended the season with a 21-4 record.
Mount Zion advances to the Mahomet-Seymour Sectional Wendesday and will face Mahomet-Seymour, a 35-28 winner over Urbana at 6:30 p.m.

Class 8-1A Sigel St. Michael Regional
Effingham Sacred Heart won the St. Michael Regional title last Tuesday by beating Newton St. Thomas, 37-29.
The Shamrocks will now face either Pana Sacred Heart or Pocahontos Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Pana Sacred Heart Sectional. Those two teams play tonight for the regional championship.
Class 8-3A Lawrenceville Parkview Regional
Teutopolis won the Lawrenceville Parkview Regional last Tuesday by beating Cumberland, 52-27.
T-town advances to the Tuscola East Prairie Sectional Wednesday and will face either Paris Mayo or Arthur. Those two teams play tonight for the championship of the Macon Meridian Regional.
