Effingham High School dropped an Apollo Conference boys basketball loss to Lincoln Monday evening, 42-31.

The Railsplitters edged out to a 10-6 opening quarter lead but the Hearts came back with an 8-5 second period run as Garrett Wolfe hit a three-pointer and Logan Heil put in a basket and a free throw. EHS trailed by one at the half.

Lincoln then went on a 13-3 third quarter run that put the game away as the two teams played to a 14-14 final quarter.

The Railsplitters had two players in double figures. Elijah Pollice led the way with 19 points while Payton Cook added 13.

Effingham had one player in double digits, Wolfe with 16 on six field goals that included four three-pointers. Heil finished with nine.
