Effingham St. Anthony won the Class 7-2A St. Anthony Regional. Effingham St. Anthony captured the championship of its own Class 2A Boys Basketball Regional Wednesday evening with a 41-37 win over South Central.
The Bullpups edged out to a 9-8 opening quarter lead as Graidon Wilhour scored four points and Will Bierman hit a three-pointer. South Central came roaring back with a 19-4 second quarter to lead 27-13 at halftime.
But St. Anthony didn't fold. The Bullpups had a 10-6 third quarter to pull within 33-23 going into the final period. Then the Bullpups went on a tear, outscoring South Central 18-4 for the victory.
Miles Waldoff waited until the final period to score all 13 of his points. Also in double figures was Bierman with 11.
South Central was led by Sebastian Kruger with 11 and Luke Shumate with 10. South Central ends the season with a 17-8 record.
St. Anthony advances to the Nokomis Sectional Wednesday, Feb. 2 to face Stewardson-Strasburg at 6:30 p.m. Stew-Stras handed Assumption Central A&M a 34-28 loss to win that regional Wednesday.

Class 2A Casey-Westfield Regional
Paris Crestwood claimed the championship of the Casey-Westfield Regional Wednesday.
Crestwood defeated host Casey-Westfield 45-25.
Regional Championships Tonight:
-- Effingham Sacred Heart and Sigel St. Michael will meet tonight for the championship of the Class 1A Sacred Heart Regional. Game time is 6 p.m.
-- Teutopolis and Jasper County square off at 7 p.m. for the championship of the Class 3A T-town Regional.
