National Trail Conference Tournament (Altamont)

St Anthony 57,  SEB 31 (St. Anthony led 14-6 after one quarter and 30-17 at halftime; it was 38-25 Bulldogs after three quarters, then St. Anthony outscored SEB 19-6 in the final quarter; Griffin Sehy led St. Anthony with 15 points, Kyle Stewart scored 11 points, and Brock Fearday scored 10 points; also for St. Anthony: Craig Croy 6, Max Koenig, Michael Martelli and Colton Fearday each with 4, and Adam Rudibaugh 3; for SEB: Gavyn Smith 10, Caleb Campbell 9, Brady Maxey 5, Quinton Logan 3, and Jarrett Pasley and Adam Atwood 2 each; St. Anthony is 13-10, SEB is 12-10; SEB will play against Dieterich in the second game Thursday, St. Anthony will play North Clay in the third game Thursday)

North Clay/Clay City 57,  Dieterich 45 (this game started as if it would be a high-scoring affair with North Clay leading Dieterich 20-16 after one quarter, but things calmed down in the middle two quarters; it was 36-34 North Clay heading for the fourth quarter, but the Cardinals outscored the Movin Maroons 21-11 in the period to post a 12-point win; Dakota Weidner led North Clay with 15 points, Logan Fleener 13, and Alex Boose 11; also for the Cardinals: Collyn Ballard and Levi Smith 7 each, and Bryton Griffy and Brady Ingram 2 each; for Dieterich: Bryce Budde had 17 points and Pete Britton 16, Andrew Lidy 5, Caleb Gephart 4, and Luke Westendorf 3; North Clay/Clay City now 9-12, while Dieterich is 12-7; Dieterich will play St. Elmo/Brownstown in the second game Thursday, North Clay/Clay City will play St. Anthony in the third game Thursday)

Mt Zion  50, T-Town  46 (the Wooden Shoes trailed 13-6 after one quarter, but were back within 21-18 at halftime, and the Shoes were up 36-34 after three quarters, but Mt. Zion outscored the Shoes 16-10 in the final quarter to claim a four-point win; Max Niebrugge led the Shoes with 11 points; also for Teutopolis: Brendan Niebrugge, Caleb Siemer and Mitch Althoff 8 each, Dylan Pruemer 7, and James Niebrugge 4)

GIRLS

T-Town  61,  Altamont 32 (Altamont led 11-10 after one quarter, but a 19-4 second quarter found the Lady Shoes up 29-15 at halftime, and a 15-8 advantage had T-Town in front 44-23 after three quarters; Kaitlyn Schumacher led Teutopolis with 24 points; also for Teutopolis: Emily Konkel 11, Isabella Hardiek 10, Kaylee Niebrugge 8, Courtney Gibson 5, and Zoe Cremens 3; for Altamont, Grace Nelson led the way with 19 points; also for Altamont: Claire Boehm 7, Peyton Osteen 3, Skylie Klein 2, and Kylie Osteen 1)

Pana 53, Neoga 26 (Pana took a 17-6 first quarter lead and outpointed Neoga 12-1 in the second period to lead 29-7 at halftime; it was 45-18 after three quarters before an 8-8 standoff in the fourth quarter accounted for the final score; for Neoga, Sydney Richards led with 11 points; also for the Lady Indians: Trista Moore 5, Sydney Hakman 4, Haylee Campbell 3, Allison Sampson 2, and Allison Worman 1; Neoga is now 21-5 on the season)

College Basketball

Illini  56,  Michigan State 55 (the Fighting Illini won without Kofi Cockburn and Andre Curbelo, defeating the #10 ranked Spartans with a big defensive stand; Illinois won its 7th Big 10 game to move atop the conference standings)
