Altamont, WSS, S. Central Pick Up Boys Basketball Wins

BEECHER CITY -- Altamont High School was a 57-46 winner over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City as two National Trail Conference boys basketball teams went head-to-head Tuesday evening.
The Indians stepped out to a 19-6 lead behind the scoring of Noah Klimpel who connected on four baskets, two of those three-pointers, for 10 in the quarter. Will Schultz added a three-pointer.
Altamont held a 31-17 halftime lead and went on for a 14-13 third quarter edge. CHBC came back with a 16-12 final quarter run behind Kade Persinger's 12 points.
Only one player finished in double figures for the Indians. Klimpel tallied 17 on six field goals and three of four at the line. Tyler Robbins scored nine and Will Schultz eight.
CHBC was led by three players in double figures. Persinger led the way with 20 on eight field goals, four of those from three-point range. Jadon Robertson added 13 and Silas Buzzard 11.
Altamont improved to 3-1 in the conference, 15-5 overall.
Altamont was a 56-21 winner in junior varsity action.
Altamont was led by Wyatt Phillips with 14, Kaidyn Miller with 12 and Avery Jahraus with 10.
CHBC was led by Evans and Villar with five points each.

At Windsor
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg picked up a National Trail Conference win over North Clay (Louisville), 54-49.
North Clay stepped out to a 19-14 opening quarter lead and led 30-24 at halftime. Bryton Griffy scored 11 while Logan Fleener had eight. WSS came roaring back with a 17-9 third quarter to pull ahead 41-29 as Austin Wittenberg led the way with eight and Samuel Vonderheide had six. WSS then finished with a 13-10 final period.
Three players hit double figures for the Hatchets. Vonderheide led the way with 21 points while A. Wittenberg added 17 and Jordan Wittenberg 10. Windsor/Stew-Stras improved to 3-2 in the conference and stands at 17-3 overall.
North Clay was led by Fleener with 18 and Griffy with 17. The Cardinals fall to 3-2 in the conference, 7-12 overall.
Windsor/Stew-Stras also nabbed the junior varsity contest, 58-38. WSS won a freshman/sophomore game 33-28.
WSS will play host to St. Anthony Friday. North Clay travels to Flora.

At Neoga
South Central came calling and tallied a 51-41 overtime victory over Neoga in Tuesday evening action.
The two teams played to a 6-6 opening quarter tie. Neoga then moved ahead 18-17 at halftime as Brady Reynolds connected for five points.
The Indians then had a 12-7 third quarter run to lead 30-24 going into the final period. Paci McClure scored five points and Kaden Young hit a three-pointer.
But South Central decided it was time to get going. The Cougars came back with a 15-9 fourth period run and tied the score at 39-39 sending the contest into overtime. Keenin Willshire who scored eight points over the first three quarters, came back with six in the fourth period while Aidan Dodson also tallied six.
In the overtime period, South Central continued their momentum with a 12-2 run and pulled out the 20-point win.
Willshire finished with 20 points while Dodson added 17 for the winners.
Neoga was led by McClure with 14 and Kaden Young with 10.
Neoga won the junior varsity game while South Central claimed a freshman/sophomore contest.

The two teams played to a 10-10 opening quarter tie before Mount Carmel edged ahead 22-21 at halftime.
The Golden Aces then took over in the third quarter with an 18-9 run and had a 20-14 final period.
Gage Kennard led the Golden Aces with 30 points.
Newton was led by Evan Schafer with 20 points and Ben Meinhart with 10. Newton drops to 3-1 in the conference, 12-6 overall.
