Breese Mater Dei Battles to Win Over St. Anthony Friday at Enlow Center

It was anybody's game through the first quarter with numerous lead changes. St. Anthony led at the end of the quarter 12-10. Mater Dei, though, outscored the Bulldogs 15-8 in the second quarter and held a 25-20 lead at halftime. The Knights also outscored the Bulldogs 16-13 in the second quarter and led 41-33 heading for the final quarter. A 15-15 standoff in the final period allowed Mater Dei to hold on to their eight-point lead and post the win.

Mater Dei hit 56% from the field, 19 of 34, including two of 10 threes. The Knights made 16 of 22 foul shots, turned the ball over 10 times and grabbed 16 rebounds.

The Bulldogs shot 46% from the field, 20 of 44, including 3 of 12 threes. St. Anthony shot just seven free throws, making five of them. 14 turnovers were a problem, but St. Anthony outboarded Mater Dei 21-16.

Kyle Stewart led St. Anthony with 15 points on seven of 10 shooting and claimed five rebounds. Adam Rudibaugh and Brock Fearday each scored eight points. Griffin Sehy and Craig Croy, recovering from a foot injury and making his first appearance in a game in a while, scored six points apiece, and Colton Fearday scored five points.

Jacob Patton led Mater Dei with 17 points, nine in the fourth quarter. Cameron Haag was also in double figures with 12 points. 

Mater Dei improved to 12-7 with the win, while St. Anthony is now 10-9 on the season.

St. Anthony won the JV game 60-49.
