 ALTAMONT -- Effingham St. Anthony claimed two victories over Altamont in junior high boys basketball action Thursday.

In the seventh-grade contest, the Bullpups were 52-25 winners, takng a 29-10 halftime lead.

St. Anthony was led by M. Waldhoff with 21 points and W. Bierman with 10. Altamont was led by N. Lurkins with 15.

In the eighth-grade game, St. Anthony was an 83-23 winner. The Bullpups were ahead 53-11 at halftime.

H. Brent and A. Lauritzen led the way for St. Anthony with 23 points each while K. Griffth added 18.

Altamont was led by Veteto with 10.

At Patoka

South Central tallied two wins over Patoka Thursday.

South Central picked up the seventh-grade game, 33-20. South Central had a 14-11 halftime lead then pushed that to 27-15 going into the third quarter.

Colton Cartright led the way with nine points while Garrett Shumate and Sebastian Krueger had eight each for the winners.

In eighth-grade play, South Central won 48-20. South Central leaped out to a 31-7 halftime lead.

Logan Byers scored 16, Hudson Moore 12 and Westin Neilson 11 for the winners.

At Salem

Teutopolis and Salem split victories Thursday.

Salem claimed the seventh-grade matchup, 38-17. Salem held an 18-12 halftime lead then had a 14-4 third period run.

Leading T-town was Carson Cornell with eight.

In the eighth-grade game, T-town made six three-pointers and tallied a 59-40 victory over Salem.

The Shoes held an 18-6 opening quarter lead. Hitting three-pointers were Addis with three and Thoele, Grunloh and McWhorter with one each.

At Lawrenceville

Jasper County fell to Lawrenceville in eighth-grade action Thursday.

Lawrenceville took an 8-4 opening quarter lead and led 14-13 at halftime. Both teams tallied 13 in the third period. Lawrenceville then had a 14-7 final quarter run.

Drake Wolf led Jasper County with 14 points. The team dropped to 6-10 on the season and returns to action Saturday at Teutopolis for a 9 a.m. contest.
