Lady Hearts Nab Conference Win Over Mt. Zion

The Effingham Lady Hearts defeated Mt. Zion 54-30 in Saturday morning basketball action. The game was moved up due to the inclement weather moving in.

Effingham grabbed a 15-7 first quarter lead and were in front 30-12 at halftime. The Effingham lead was 40-23 after three quarters before EHS posted a 14-7 fourth quarter edge to win by 24.

Meredith Schaefer led Effingham with 23 points. Sawyer Althoff was also in double figures with 10 points. Also for Effingham, Marissa Allie 8, Ella Niebrugge 6, Coralin Ohnesorge 3, and Madison Mapes and Saige Althoff 2 each. 

Anderson led Mt. Zion with 22 points.

Effingham improved to 11-5 on the season, and are even in Apollo Conference play at 3-3.

Effingham travels to Neoga for non-conference action on Monday night.
