Altamont Captures Come-From-Behind Win at Dieterich

The Altamont Indians, trailing 16-5 after the first quarter, bounced back and defeated the Dieterich Movin Maroons at Dieterich 52-47 Friday night at Dieterich. The game was heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com. 

Dieterich added to their early advantage, leading 26-12 at halftime, but Altamont outscored Dieterich 16-4 in the third quarter to pull within 30-28 heading for the final period. The Indians outpointed Dieterich 24-17 in the fourth quarter to post the five-point win.

Junior Mason Robinson scored all 20 of his points in the second half to pace the Altamont comeback, including 12 points in the fourth quarter. Eric Kollman scored 13 points and Jared Hammer scored nine points. Also for Altamont, Noah Klimpel and Avery Jahraus scored three points, and Tyler Robbins and Mason Winn each scored two points. 

Pete Britton led a balanced Dieterich attack with 11 points, Bryce Budde scored 10 points, Caleb Gephart and Luke Westendorf each scored nine points, and Andrew Lidy scored eight points. 

Altamont made just 30% of its shots 17 of 56, including four of 25 three point tries. The Indians made 14 of 21 foul shots, committed just nine turnovers, and grabbed 33 rebounds. 

Dieterich made 16 of 39 shots, 41%, including 10 of 23 threes, made five of just six free throws, turned the ball over 14 times and pulled down just 17 rebounds.

Altamont improved to 12-4 on the season, 2-0 in NTC play. Dieterich is now 10-5 on the season, 3-3 in the conference.

Altamont won the JV game 39-21.
