Altamont sophomore Grace Nelson pushed her career scoring total past 1,000 points Thursday night, as the Lady Indians defeated South Central 80-52 in a National Trail Conference contest.

Nelson finished with 43 points. Also in double figures for Altamont were Skylie Klein with 15 points and Peyton Osteen with 13 points. Also for Altamont, Claire Boehm 3, and Brianna Grunloh, Ana Fulk and and Libby Reardon with 2 each. 

Brooklyn Garrett led South Central with 22 points and 21 rebounds, while Taegan Webster scored 12 points. Also for the Lady Cougars, Brooke Cowger 8 points with 16 rebounds, Ryleigh Swartzlander 4, and Laney Webster, Ella Watwood and Samantha Roberts 2 each.

St. Anthony led start-to-finish in defeating Shelbyville 68-33 Thursday.

The Lady Bulldogs were up 16-10 after one quarter and a 21-6 second quarter surge pushed the lead to 37-16 at halftime. It was 54-28 after three quarters and a 14-5 margin in the final period accounted for the 35-point win.

Lucy Fearday had a big night for St. Anthony, pouring in 30 points. Riley Guy scored 14 points and Grace Karolewicz added 11 points. Also for the Lady Bulldogs, Abbi Hatton 6, Stacie Vonderheide 3, and Anna Faber and Aydsen Rios 2 each. M. Wade led Shelbyville with 16 points while T. Wade scored 12. Clark scored the other five points.

St. Anthony won the JV game, which involved two 10-minute continuous clock halves, 21-13. For St. Anthony: Vonderheide 10, Kibler 6, An. Faber 3, and A. Rios 2.

Mattoon won a battle of standout teams Thursday, defeating Teutopolis 50-44.

The game was tied 14-14 after one quarter, Mattoon led 27-23 at halftime, and Mattoon was up 41-33 after three quarters. The Lady Shoes outscored Mattoon 11-9 in the final quarter to pull within six at the buzzer. 

Isabella Hardiek led Teutopolis with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Kaitlyn Schumacher and Kaylee Niebrugge each added 13 points. Grace Tegeler scored four points.

Mallory Ramage, Mattoon's all-time leading scorer, led the Lady Wave with 25 points.

Newton posted a 48-24 win over Lawrenceville at Newton Thursday.

Newton improved to 7-12 with the win, 2-2 in conference play. Ava Kessler led the Lady Eagles with 16 points, while Camryn Martin scored 13 points and Lilly Kessler added 10 points. Also for Newton, Addy O'Dell 3, Karasayn Martin 2, Alexis Hetzer 2, Elle Bennett 1, and Sydney Dobbins 1.

The victory was career win #150 at Newton for Lady Eagles Coach Brad Harris.

Newton won the JV game 37-24.

Neoga ran its record to 15-2 with a 45-29 victory Thursday over Sullivan.

Kim Romack's crew trailed 11-9 after one quarter, but a 16-7 surge in the second quarter put the Lady Indians ahead 25-18 at halftime. It was 37-23 after three quarters. 

Avery Fearday and Haylee Campbell each scored 12 points to lead Neoga. Also for Neoga, Sydney Richards 8, Trista Moore 6, Allison Worman 4, Sydney Hakman 2, and Allison Sampson 1.

Cumberland fell to Robinson 47-37 Thursday.

The Lady Pirates trailed 13-10 after one quarter, but then outscored Robinson 7-1 in the second period to lead 17-14 at halftime. It was 31-30 Cumberland after three quarters before Robinson outscored Cumberland 17-6 in the final period to post the 10-point win.

Zoe Mitchell led Cumberland with 12 points. Also for Cumberland, Jadalyn Sowers 9, Sage Carr 5, Katelyn Shoemaker 4, Abbie Becker 4, and Paige Dittamore 3.

Dieterich doubled up Ramsey 64-32 Thursday night.

Cortney Brummer led Dieterich with 22 points. Also in double figures were Eva Meinhart with 13 points and Madelyn Brummer with 11 points. Also for Dieterich, Ruby Westendorf 7, Kaitlyn Boerngen and Miley Britton with 5 each, and Estella Meinhart 1.

Brownstown/St. Elmo posted a 56-13 drubbing of Mt. Olive Thursday.

A 17-2 first quarter decided the contest. 

Lexi Seabaugh led BSE with 15 points, while Laney Baldridge put together an 11-point, 10-rebound, seven-assist, eight-steal performance. Also for BSE, Audrey Wilhour 8, Natelly Beall and Avery Myers 6 each, Sydney Stine 4, and Anna Stine, Jade Wilhour, and Jayna Ireland 2 each with Ireland grabbing 7 rebounds.
