Effingham St. Anthony tallied wins over Altamont Lutheran in junior high boys basketball competition Monday.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade encounter 50-12. St. Anthony held a 20-4 opening quarter lead as M. Waldhoff connected for 14 points in the first period and finished with 16 for the contest.

Also in double figures for St. Anthony were W. Bierman with 12 and G. Wilhour with 11.

Altamont Lutheran was led by J.D. Frederking with eight points.

In the eighth-grade game, St. Anthony captured a 45-27 win. The Bullpups held a 12-2 opening quarter lead. Altamont Lutheran came back within 18-13 at halftime but the Bullpups went on a 17-4 third period run.

H. Brent led the way for St. Anthony with 20 points while A. Lauritzen added 14.

Altamont Lutheran was led by Milleville with 12.

At Effingham

Effingham downed Marshall in both seventh- and eighth-grade play Monday.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade game 42-4 and improved to 4-11 on the season.

Braddy led the way with 16 points while Feldhake added 14 for the winners.

In the eighth-grade contest, Effingham downed Marshall, 37-27.

The Mustangs trailed Marshall 8-7 after the first quarter but came back with a 14-4 second period run to lead 21-12 at halftime. Marshall pulled back within 30-26 in the third quarter. Effingham then finished strong with a 7-1 final period.

James Wise led the way with 11 points while Nolan Fearday and Wyatt Hayes had nine each for the winners who are now 14-1 on the season.

At Strasburg

Stewardson-Strasburg claimed both victories over Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Monday.

Stew-Stras led 22-9 at halftime in seventh-grade play and held ALAH scoreless in the third quarter.

Pruemer led the way for the winners with 15 points while Wetherell added 12. Stew-Stras improved to 14-4.

In eighth-grade play, Stew-Stras was a 37-27 winner. Sayers scored 18 and Beals 10 for the winners.

Stew-Stras held a 24-6 halftime lead and improved to 10-5 on the season.
