St. A Splits, Altamont, Ttown JV Lose At Mattoon Girls Tourney, Neoga Wins Twice At Monticello

In the Bulldogs opening game, they fell to Olney, 64-58. St. Anthony took a 14-9 opening quarter lead as Lucy Fearday knocked in five field goals for 10 points. Olney pulled back within 26-24 at halftime.
The Tigers then had a 25-13 third period as Ke. Weiter got on a roll hitting three trifectas and a regular basket along with two free throws for 13 points and Ingram scored three trifectas for nine.
The Bulldogs outscored Olney 19-15 in the final period only to fall short.
Riley Guy ended up with 23 points on eight field goals that included three trifectas and was three of three at the line. Fearday finished with 22 points on 10 field goals and two of three at the line.
St. Anthony tallied a 47-39 win over Altamont as the two National Trail Conference teams met.
The Bulldogs led 21-12 at halftime. Altamont came back with a 27-26 second half but couldn't get over the first half deficit.
Fearday scored 20 for the winners on eight field goals and four of six at the line. Guy tallied 12.
Altamont was led by Grace Nelson with 13.
Altamont fell to Galesburg in its opening contest at the tourney, 65-56.
The Indians held a 16-12 opening quarter lead but Galesburg came roaring back with a 22-7 second quarter. The two teams played to a 17-17 tie in the third period and Altamont had a 13-12 final quarter.
Nelson tallied 37 on 14 field goals including three trifectas and was six of nine at the line.
Teutopolis junior varsity team fell twice in the tourney.
The Wooden Shoes lost to Mahomet-Seymour by a 55-35 count. Mahomet-Seymour held a 25-16 halftime lead then had a 30-19 second half.
T-town was led by Chloe Probst with 14 points. Taylor Bueker had seven rebounds.
In the second game, Mattoon handed T-town JV a 73-27 loss. The Green Wave held a 40-14 halftime lead.
T-town was led by Summer Wallace with eight points.
In other games Monday, Mattoon trounced Decatur Eisenhower, 85-29, Mahomet-Seymour also had a big win over Eisenhower, 74-11 and Galesburg defeated Olney 57-31.

Monticello Holiday Hoopla
Neoga captured two victories at the Monticello Holiday Girls Hoopla Monday.
The Indians won over host Monticello by a 51-43 count. The Indians stepped out to a 34-19 first half lead then held off the Sages in the second half.
Sydney Richards scored 19 for the winners while Trista Moore scored 13.
In the second game, Neoga downed Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, 52-22. The Indians held GCMS scoreless in the opening quarter for a 15-0 lead and never looked back.
S. Richards again led the Indians with 12 points while Moore added 11.
Neoga improved to 12-2 on the season and will now play Clinton today at 3:30 p.m.
In other games Monday, Clinton defeated Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, 72-13, Colfax Ridgeview downed Paxton-Buckley-Loda, 33-25, Tuscola won over Toulon Stark County, 60-12 and Clinton defeated Monticello, 58-23.
