Greenville Beats South Central Girls

KINMUNDY -- Greenville claimed a 62-56 non-conference victory over South Central in girls high school basketball action Wednesday.

The Cougars edged out to a 19-17 opening quarter lead behind Laney Webster's nine points and five by Brooklyn Garrett.

But Greenville came back with a 13-9 second quarter to lead 30-28 at halftime. Greenville kept the pressure on with a 19-18 third period and finished out with a 13-10 final quarter.

South Central was led by L. Webster with eight field goals, one a three-pointer, and one of two at the line for 18 points. Garrett tallied 17 on four field goals and nine of 12 at the line.
