Effingham St. Anthony's eighth-grade boys basketball team improved to 13-2 on the season with a 45-30 win over Marshall Saturday.
The Bullpups edged out to an 11-10 opening quarter lead but fell behind 26-21 at halftime. St. Anthony came roaring back with a 16-2 third period and outscored Marshall 10-2 in the final quarter.
Aiden Lauritzen led the way with 15 points while Henry Brent added 14 and Coen Pennington 10.

At Effingham
Effingham picked up three victories during weekend action.
The Mustangs won a B contest Friday to improve to 3-0.
Effingham was a 36-21 winner, taking an 18-6 first half lead.
Brock Meltabarger tallied eight points for the Mustangs.
In Saturday play the Mustangs edged Effingham, 39-38 in seventh-grade play.
Effingham held an 11-10 opening quarter lead but trailed 18-17 at halftime. EJHS came back with a 22-20 second half.
Carter Braddy tallied 16 to lead the way for Effingham. Aidan Feldhake chipped in with eight.
Effingham remained unbeaten in eighth-grade play with a 45-32 win over Edison.
The Mustangs edged out to a 9-7 opening quarter lead and led 22-15 at halftime. The Mustangs then had a 23-17 second half.
James Wise tallied 14 while Cole Phillips scored 10 for the winners. who improved to 12-0 on the season.
