The Bulldogs held a 9-8 opening quarter lead then put on their scoring shoes with a 17-9 second period run to lead 26-17 at halftime. Mahomet-Seymour had another 17-10 edge in the third period and finished out with a 15-9 final quarter.
Effingham was led by Meredith Schaefer with 11 points while Sawyer Althoff had eight and Ella Niebrugge seven.

At Mattoon
Tri-County handed Altamont a 54-42 loss in competition held at Lake Land College Saturday.
The Indians edged out to a 12-11 opening quarter lead as Grace Nelson tallied eight points. But Tri-County came roaring back with a 14-5 second period to lead 25-17 at halftime.
M-S then had a 17-11 third period before Altamont came back with a 14-12 final quarter.
Nelson finished with 25 points on nine field goals that included two trifectas and was five of six at the line.
Altamont is now 6-4 on the season.
