IBCA Hall of Fame Class for 2022

The Illinois Basketball Coaches Association announced its Hall of Fame Class for 2022 and several area inductees are on the lists.

Blair Hardiek is among the basketball players that will be recognized. Hardiek competed for Effingham High School and went on to play at Missouri.

Also among the women are Toni (Collins) Niebrugge, a Lincoln resident, who played for Sidell Jamaica in high school and went on to play for Eastern Illinois University. She lived and taught in the Effingham area. During her four years at EIU she was named to the COSIDA Academic All-District 5 team, held 11 school records including career-rebounding and single-game scoring marks and left EIU as the second all-time leading scorer male or female in 1985.

Jon Brown from Neoga was listed in the boys coaches category. He is the head boys basketball coach at Crab Orchard.

Also in the coaches category is Lake Land College women's head coach David Johnson.

Also listed is Wendell Wheeler who has coached at Cobden, Duquoin, Newton and Patoka.

In the Career Coaches category are Jim Corrona who has coached at numerous high schools including Effingham and Charleston's Jim Miller for boys and girls at the high school.

In the team's category is Robinson High School's 2010 boys squad that was the Class 2A state champions.
