BROWNSTOWN -- Brownstown/St. Elmo ripped out to a 19-2 opening quarter lead and never looked back in a 60-12 non-conference win over Martinsville in girls high school basketball action Monday evening.

SEB held a 38-4 halftime lead as Laney Baldrige had a seven point second quarter and nine by halftime.

Baldrige and Sydney Stine tallied 11 points each while Jayna Ireland chipped in with 10. 

Browntown/St. Elmo fell in a junior varsity contest to Flora, 29-15.

At Farina

Neoga stepped out to an early lead then finished strong for a 60-48 National Trail Conference victory over South Central Monday.

The Indians moved ahead 18-15 in the opening quarter. Both teams scored 14 in the second period and 10 in the third quarter. Neoga then finished with an 18-9 run.

Sydney Richards hit 12 field goals that included one three-pointer, for 25 points. Also in double figures were Avery Fearday with 14 on two field goals and 10 of 10 at the line and Allison Worman with 11. Worman and Richards pulled down 10 rebounds each while Fearday had six assists.

South Central was led by Kaitlyn Swift with 12 points and Laney Webster 11.

Neoga improves to 3-0 in the NTC and 7-1 overall.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City trailed Shelbyville 16-4 after the opening quarter but came back to pull out a 58-45 non-conference win Monday evening.

CHBC trailed 26-20 at halftime then had a 22-11 third period to pull ahead 42-38 and finished out with a 16-8 final quarter. The Bobcats hit 20 of 28 free throws in the contest.

Gracie Heckert led the way for the Bobcats with 22 points on six field goals that included three trifectas and was seven of nine at the line. Also in double figures were Lani Morrison with 15 and Madison Wojcik with 12.

Leading in rebounds were Wojcik with 17 and Ruby Stuckemeyer with 13. Heckerth ad four steals and three assists.

CHBC also claimed the junior varsity matchup, 35-14. Macee Rodman led CHBC with nine points.

At Dieterich

Dieterich captured a 58-49 victory over North Clay (Louisville) in a National Trail Conference contest Monday.

The Cardinals held an 11-10 opening quarter lead but Dieterich came back to lead 25-23 at halftime. The Movin' Maroons pushed their lead to 42-33 going into the final period. Both teams tallied 16 in the final quarter.

Dieterich was led by Kaitlyn Boerngen with 22 points while Cortney Brummer added 11. Boerngen hit eight field goals that included four three-pointers and was two of five at the line. Boerngen connected on four field goals and three of four at the line.

North Clay was led by Miah Ballard with 20 on four field goals, with one three-pointer, and 11 of 14 at the line for 20 points. Matia Price added 12 points on two field goals, one a two-pointer and one a three-pointer and seven of nine at the line.

In junior varsity action, Dieterich claimed a 25-11 victory. Estella Meinhart led the winners with six points. North Clay was led by Matia Price with seven.

At Pana

Teutopolis fell in overtime to host Pana, 39-38 Monday evening.

The Wooden Shoes held a 9-2 opening quarter lead but Pana came back to knot the score at halftime, 16-16. Both teams tallied 12 in the third period and five in the final quarter, sending the contest into the overtime period.

Hicks then scored two baskets and Hamilton one as the Panthers hed a 6-5 edge for the win.

T-town was led by Kaitlyn Schumacher with 11 points on four field goals and three of four at the line. Zoe Cremens and Emily Konkel tallied eight each.

Schumacher led in rebounds with 12 while Isabella Hardiek added 10. Emily Konkel, Kaylee Niebrugge, Schumacher and Grace Tegeelr had one steal each.

At Albion

Although Newton held a 31-26 halftime lead, Edwards County (Albion) came back with a 33-24 second half to claim a 59-54 victory Monday.

Amber Russell led the way for Newton with 25 points. Russell connected on 11 field goals and was three of four at the line. Alexis Hetzer finished with nine.

Russell also led in rebounds with eight. Hetzer and Elle Bennett pulled down six each and Ava Kessler five. A. Kessler led in assists with three. Macy Barthelemy led in steals with four and Russell had three.

Newton drops to 3-6 on the season.
