ROBINSON -- Effingham St. Anthony High School finished fifth at the Robinson Lady Maroons Thanksgiving Invitational Saturday.

The Bulldogs squared off against Robinson in the fifth place game and pounded out a 70-38 victory.

Robinson edged out to a 17-13 opening quarter lead but the Bulldogs' Riley Guy fired up six baskets that included three trifectas and was one of two at the line for 16 points in the second period 28-5 run. Lucy Fearday contributed six points in that period as the Bulldogs led 41-22 at halftime.

St. Anthony continued on with a 29-16 second half.

Guy tallied 30 points on 13 field goals, three of those trifectas and one of two at the line. Fearday also finished in double figures with 14.

Salem Thanksgiving Tournament

Teutopolis High School finished 3-1 for second place at the 20th Annual Salem Girls Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament Saturday.

The Wooden Shoes fell in the first contest of the day to Carterville, 50-43. In the second game, T-town was a 48-29 winner over Centralia.

Carterville, Highland and Teutopolis all finished with 3-1 records while Centraila was 1-3 and Salem 0-4.

Carterville stepped out to a 17-13 opening quarter lead and led 26-24 at halftime. The squad had a 38-35 edge going into the final period and outscored the Wooden Shoes 12-8.

Teutopolis had two players in double digits. Kaylee Niebrugge scored 14 while Kaitlyn Schumacher chipped in with 11 for the Shoes. Schumacher led in rebounds with 11 while Niebrugge had eight and Emily Konkel seven. Niebrugge led in steals with five. Konkel had three assists.

In the second game, T-town came back with a 48-29 victory over Centralia.

The Wooden Shoes edged out to a 12-9 opening quarter lead as three players scored eight points each. In the second period, the Shoes got on a 15-2 roll. Isabella Hardiek scored six points. However Centralia came back with a 15-7 third quarter run to pulled within 34-26.

T-town got back on track with a 14-3 final period.

Three players scored in double figures for the Shoes. Hardiek led the way with 15 points while Niebrugge added 12 and Schumacher 11. Hardiek pulled down 12 rebounds while Schumacher had 10. Schumacher led in steals with four while Hardiek had three. Niebrugge had three assists. Konkel had two blocked shots.
