Effingham, Flora Win At Bob Kerans Tourney, Girls Roundup

Meredith Schaefer got Effingham off in the right direction. Schaefer connected on five baskets in the opening quarter, two of those from three-point range and scored 12 points as the Hearts took a 23-2 lead. Ella Niebrugge scored five in the period.
The lone basket for the Eagles came from Ava Kessler.
EHS held a 38-8 halftime lead and had a 19-5 third period run. Schaefer finished with 18 points while Niebrugge chipped in with 11.
Newton was led by Elle Bennett and Natalie O'Dell with three points each.
In the opener, Flora edged out to a 14-9 opening quarter lead and led 26-17 at halftime. Altamont played the Wolves even in the third period and had a 14-11 final quarter only to fall short, 47-41.
Flora was led by Parker with 16 and Behnke with 12.
Altamont was led by Grace Nelson with 22 and Claire Boehm with nine.
The round robin tournament continues tonight as Effingham takes on Vandalia at 6 followed by Newton against Altamont at 7:30.

At Neoga
In a regular season contest, Marshall captured a 61-48 non-conference victory over Neoga Monday.
The Indians trailed Marshall 17-16 after the opening quarter and 34-25 at halftime. Marshall had a 27-23 second half.
Osborn led the winners with 23 points whiel Engledow added 17 and Sollers 11.
Neoga was led by Haylee Campbell with 14, Allison Worman with 12 and Sydney Richards with nine.
Campbell also led the team in rebounds with nine while Richards had six.
Neoga drops to 1-1 on the season and returns to action Friday in the Mary Sur Shootout.

The Cougars ran off to a 20-0 opening quarter lead and never looked back in this one.
Three players hit double figures for the Cougars. Laney Webster led the way with 22 points while Taegan Webster added 16 and Brooklyn Garrett 13.
