Girls Junior High Basketball -- Nov. 15

MATTOON -- Mattoon came calling and picked up an eighth-grade girls basketball victory over Effingham St. Anthony Monday evening but fell in the seventh-grade contest.

In the seventh-grade victory, the Bullpups tallied a 31-10 score. St. Anthony led 4-2 after the opening quarter and 13-6 at halftime. St. Anthony then had a 13-1 third quarter and never looked back.

Aubrey Denning and Addie Lauritzen led the way for the Bullpups with 12 each. 

Mattoon took a 6-2 opening quarter lead in the eighth-grade contest and led 13-7 at halftime. Mattoon had an 8-7 second half edge.

St. Anthony was led by Denning, Lilly Gannaway and Mary Hoene with four points each. The Bullpups drop to 8-11 on the season.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis tallied 40 points in both seventh- and eighth-grade play for victories over Vandalia Monday evening.

In the seventh-grade game, the Wooden Shoes stepped out to a 16-0 opening quarter lead and won 40-6. T-town's Gabby Tegeler tallied nine points while Olivia Roley and Elise Pals had eight each. The Shoes are now 18-3.

In eighth-grade action, T-town led 32-3 at halftime and went on for a 40-6 win. Allie Ruholl scored nine points while Anna Probst added eight in the win. T-town is unbeaten at 21-0.
