Effingham St. Anthony claimed two junior high boys basketball wins over Newton St. Thomas Thursday.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade contest, 35-29. St. Thomas held an 11-10 opening quarter lead and led 21-20 at halftime. St. Anthony moved ahead 29-27 going into the final quarter then had a 6-2 run for the win.

Miles Waldhoff led the way for the Bullpups with 22 points while Graiden Wilhour chipped in with 10.

St. Thomas was led by Quincy Fulton with 11 and Drake Herdes with eight.

In eighth-grade competition, the Bullpups scored a 45-21 win. St. Anthony held a 17-2 opening quarter lead and put the game into the victory column.

Henry Brent led St. Anthony with 14 points while Aiden Lauritzen tallied 13.

St. Thomas was led by Cody Bergbower with eight.

At Effingham

Effingham split victories with Teutopolis in junior high boys basketball Thursday evening.

The Wooden Shoes captured the seventh-grade game, 51-19. T-town ripped out to a 24-1 opening quarter lead and that was the game.

T-town was led by Kocher with eight and Lustig, Kinkelaar and Pals with six each.

Effingham was led by Carter Braddy with 11.

In the eighth-grade game, the Mustangs edged T-town, 38-37.

Both teams tallied eight in the opening period before T-town moved ahead 18-17 at halftime and held a 30-27 lead going into the final quarter. Effingham then had an 11-7 run to pull out the victory.

Nolan Fearday led the way for the Mustangs with 20 points.

T-town was led by Gavin Addis with 16.
