ALTAMONT -- Effingham Junior High's eighth-grade girls basketball team picked up a 45-25 victory over Altamont Monday.

The two teams were tied after the opening quarter at 6-6 each before the Mustangs edged ahead 19-14 at halftime. Effingham had a 14-6 third period and that was the game.

Martin tallied 28 for the winners. Altamont was led by K. Lurkins with nine and E. Nelson with eight.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis picked up easy victories over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Monday.

T-town was a 22-4 winner in the seventh-grade contest. The Wooden Shoes held a 10-4 halftime lead then had a 12-0 second half.

Kylie Borries and Elise Pals had seven points each for the winners who improve to 13-3.

CHBC was led by Brinley Pope and Haley Doty with two points each. CHBC dropped to 13-4.

In the eighth-grade contest, T-town claimed a 43-6 win. The Wooden Shoes held a 26-6 halftime lead then had a 17-0 second half.

Anna Probst led in scoring with 17 points. The Shoes are 16-0.

CHBC was led by Ryleigh Sarver with four. CHBC drops to 8-9.
