Brownstown/St. Elmo claimed the championship of the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament.
BROWNSTOWN -- Brownstown/St. Elmo won the championship of the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament Saturday.
BSE handed Sigel St. Michael a 26-22 loss.
In the third place contest, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was a 33-19 winner over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg.
Windsor/Stew-Stras took a 7-6 opening quarter lead and held that one-point lead at halftime, 13-12. CHBC then came to life with a 21-6 second half run.
Doty led the way for the winners with 17 points.
WSS was led by Wittenberg and McCormick with six points each. WSS drops to 7-7.
The consolation championship went to Dieterich over Altamont, 21-18.

At Taylorville
Teutopolis suffered its first loss in seventh-grade play by a 31-13 count Saturday.
Taylorville ran off to a 13-0 first quarter lead and led 17-5 at halftime then maintained control in the second half.
T-town was led by Gabby Tegeler with six points as the Shoes fell to 9-1.
In eighth-grade play, T-town improved to 10-0 with a 56-13 victory. The Shoes held a 31-7 first half lead.
Anna Probst tallied 15 points for the Shoes while Allie Ruholl added 11.
