The National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Girls Basketball Tournament opened play Tuesday evening.

North Clay (Louisville) was a 32-15 winner over Neoga in the opener.

In the second contest, Effingham Sacred Heart downed South Central, 21-19 in overtime.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City edged Dieterich, 16-15 in the final contest of the evening.

Dieterich held an 11-3 first half lead but CHBC came back with an 8-0 third quarter to tie the score at 11-11. In the final period, CHBC kept the momentum with a 5-4 edge for the win.

Haley Doty tallied six for the winners. Goebel led Dieterich with 11.

The tournament continues tonight as top-seeded Sigel St. Michael takes on No. 8 North Clay at 5:30 p.m. followed by No. 2 Brownstown/St. Elmo against No. 7 Sacred Heart at 6:45 and No. 3 Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg facing No. 6 Altamont at 8.

At Salem

Teutopolis continues to roll along.

The Wooden Shoes tallied seventh- and eighth-grade girls basketball wins over Salem Franklin Park Tuesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes won 33-12 in the seventh-grade matchup. T-town led 4-2 after the first quarter then opened the game up with a 16-4 second period run.

Elise Pals scored 12 for the winners who improve to 9-0.

In eighth-grade action, T-town held Franklin Park scoreless in the second period to lead 21-6 at halftime then went on for a 40-14 win.

Anna Probst and Eva Mette were the one-two scoring punch with 11 and 10 points respectively. T-town is 9-0.
