Pana Sacred Heart picked up two wins over Stewardson-Strasburg in girls junior high basketball competition Thursday.

 

Sacred Heart trailed Stew-Stras 12-11 after the opening quarter and 14-13 at halftime then had a 7-3 final period to pull out the win.

Cox tallied 11 for the winners. Hayes led Stew-Stras with eight as the team dropped to 6-5.

In the eighth-grade game, Sacred Heart took the early lead and scored a 31-22 victory.

Kinsey scored 12 for the winners.

Stew-Stras was led by Friese with 12 as the team fell to 5-4.

At Farina

Dieterich came calling and handed South Central two losses Thursday.

Dieterich picked up the seventh-grade victory, 22-11 by stepping out to a 13-6 first half score.

Kinli Michl led the way for the winners with 14 points. South Central was led by Lorelai Rose with five.

The eighth-grade contest went to the wire as Dieterich pulled out a 20-19 win.

South Central led 4-3 after the first quarter and 10-7 at halftime. Dieterich came back with a 10-4 third period run as Allie Uthell hit all four of her points in the period. Dieterich held a 17-14 lead going into the final quarter. South Central mounted a comeback only to fall short.

Dieterich was led by Addison Miller with seven points.

South Central was led by Perci Reid with 10.

At Farina

At Beecher City

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Okaw Valley split victories in Thursday action.

In the seventh-grade contest, CHBC improved to 6-2 on the season with a 32-10 win.

Haley Doty tallied 11 for the winners while Helena Bowlin added eight. CHBC held a 16-6 halftime lead.

In the eighth-grade game, Okaw Valley claimed a 34-27 win. Okaw Valley led 19-11 at halftime. CHBC came back with an 8-4 third period but Okaw Valley had an 11-8 final quarter.

Madison Dawson led the way with 18 points as CHBC dropped to 4-4.
