Cora Hartmann sank two free throws with 9/10ths of a second left in the game to give Effingham St. Anthony a one point victory over Jasper County in eighth-grade girls basketball action Tuesday.

Jasper County took a 12-4 opening quarter lead and led 16-11 at halftime. Jasper County was still in the lead as the third period ended, 23-19. St. Anthony then came back with an 9-4 final period to pull out the victory.

Lilly Gannaway tallied eight points to lead the winners while Addie Lauritzen chipped in with seven. The Bullpups improve to 6-3 on the season.

Jasper County was led by Willenborg with 15 and Meinhart with 10.

At Strasburg

Teutopolis picked up two victories over Stewardson-Strasburg Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes claimed the seventh-grade contest, 25-17. Stew-Stras held a 6-5 opening quarter lead and led 13-7 at halftime. But T-town rallied with an 18-4 second half.

Elise Pals led the way for T-town with 12 points. The Shoes improve to 6-0.

Stew-Stras was led by Hayes with seven.

In eighth-grade action, T-town stepped out to a 19-5 opening half lead and never looked back in a 33-1 victory.

Anna Probst had 12 points for the winners. The eighth-grade squad improves to 6-0.

Holland led Stew-Stras with seven.
