Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City handed Effingham Sacred Heart two girls junior high basketball losses Tuesday.

CHBC improved to 5-1 with a 28-13 win in seventh-grade play. The Shamrocks held a 2-0 opening quarter lead but CHBC came back with a 14-3 second period and that was the game.

Haley Doty led in scoring with 16 points for the winners .Sacred Heart was led by A. Aldrich with five.

In the eighth-grade matchup, CHBC was a 28-21 winner to improve to 4-2. CHBC held a 14-7 halftime lead and had a 10-8 final period run.

Madison Dawson tallied 10 points for the winners. M. Brown led Sacred Heart with nine.

At Charleston

Teutopolis won both games over Charleston in action Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade encounter by a 33-13 tally.

T-town held a 4-1 opening quarter lead then had a 21-4 run over the next two periods. Kylie Borries tallied 12 points for the winners while Elise Pals added eight.

Teutopolis won the eighth-grade game by forfeit. Both Wooden Shoes teams are now 4-0 on the campaign.

At Strasburg

Stewardson-Strasburg claimed two victories over Neoga in junior high girls basketball action Tuesday.

Stew-Stras scored a 36-13 win in seventh-grade play to improve to 3-2 on the season.

The winners ran off to a 15-0 first quarter lead and never looked back. Hayes tallied 15 and Friese 11 for the winners. Neoga was led by Brandenburg with seven.

In the eighth-grade contest, Stew-Stras was a 48-22 winner and is 3-2.

Stew-Stras ripped off to a 20-0 opening quarter lead. Casey and Hayes scored 12 points each for the winners. Neoga was led by Henderson with 15.

At Dieterich

In a seventh-grade only contest, Dieterich tallied a 26-14 win over Martinsville Tuesday.

Dieterich held a 14-5 first half lead and had a 10-2 third quarter run.

Kinli Michl led in scoring with nine while Elaira Meinhart added eight and Lena Goebel seven.

At Louisville

Sigel St. Michael picked up a victory over North Clay (Louisville) Tuesday.

The Sharpshooters won the eighth-grade contest, 39-16. North Clay fell to 1-5 on the season.

In the seventh-grade game, St. Michael won 49-8.

North Clay is back in action Thursday against Altamont at 5:30 p.m.
