Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was a winner over Ramsey in both seventh- and eighth-grade girls basketball competition Friday.

CHBC improved to 4-0 in seventh-grade play with a 24-21 victory. CHBC held a 16-8 halftime lead but went scoreless in the third period and Ramsey moved within 16-15. CHBC then had an 8-6 final quarter.

Haley Doty led in scoring with eight points.

In eighth-grade action, CHBC was a 32-27 winner behind the scoring of Madison Dawson with 16 points.

CHBC held a 19-9 halftime lead. Ramsey came back with an 18-13 second half run only to fall short.

CHBC is now 3-1 on the season.

At Strasburg

Brownstown/St. Elmo picked up two wins over Stewardson-Strasburg Friday.

In the seventh-grade encounter, BSE was a 26-20 winner. Both teams tallied eight points in the opening quarter. Stew-Stras moved ahead 14-12 at halftime but went scoreless as BSE had a 12-0 third period.

M. Miller and D. Haslett led BSE with eight points each. Stew-Stras was led by Friese with 12 as the squad fell to 1-1.

In eighth-grade action, BSE trailed Stew-Stras 23-20 going into the final period then had an 8-2 run to pull out a 28-25 victory.

Williams tallied nine points while Miller had eight for the winners.

Stew-Stras was led by Holland and Hayes with eight each as the team fell to 1-1.

At Strasburg

At Dieterich

In games played Thursday, Dieterich picked up two victories over North Clay (Louisville).

Dieterich was a 39-7 winner in the seventh-grade contest. Dieterich ran off to a 16-0 opening quarter and led 26-2 at halftime.

Kinli Michl led in scoring with 13 points. North Clay was led by Leigha Ruesken with three.

In the eighth-grade game, Dieterich was a 32-14 winner.

North Clay held a 6-2 opening quarter lead but Dieterich moved ahead 12-7 at halftime.

Addison Miller tallied 14 points for the winners. North Clay was led by Kennedy Jones with five.
