Effingham St. Anthony picked up two victories over Neoga in girls junior high basketball competition Tuesday evening.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade matchup, 49-17. St. Anthony held a 21-2 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Aubrey Denning led the way for St. Anthony with 22 points. Neoga was led by Henderson with nine.

In the eighth-grade contest, St. Anthony claimed a 35-7 victory. Once again, the Bullpups ripped out to a big opening quarter lead, 12-0.

Maddy Hodge led the way with 12 points for the winners. Neoga was led by Henderson with four.

At Effingham

Mattoon came calling and the Effingham eighth-grade squad claimed a victory Tuesday evening.

The Mustangs won 27-10. EJHS held Mattoon scoreless while taking a 12-0 opening quarter lead.

Martin scored 10 points in that opening quarter and finished with 19 for the Mustangs.

At Altamont

Altamont and Dieterich split victories in action Tuesday.

Dieterich picked up the seventh-grade win, 16-14. Dieterich trailed Altamont 11-5 at halftime then came back with a 7-0 third quarter run.

Elaira Meinhart had eight points for the winners. Altamont was led by K. Schultz with four.

In eighth-grade action, Altamont took a 24-17 victory. K. Lurkins led the way with 18 points as Altamont took a12-2 halftime lead.

Dieterich was led by Addison Miller with nine.

At Vandalia

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Vandalia split victories Tuesday evening.

CHBC won the seventh-grade contest, 18-6 to improve to 2-0 on the season.

Helena Bowlin scored 10 points for the winners. Vandalia was led by Cade with four.

In the eighth-grade game, Vandalia edged CHBC, 21-19. CHBC held an 8-7 opening quarter lead and led 11-9 at halftime. Vandalia had an 8-2 third quarter and held on for the victory.

Madison Dawson led the Bobcats with 10 points. Vandalia was led by Johnson with 10.

At Kinmundy

Teutopolis tallied two wins over South Central in Tuesday evening play.

The Wooden Shoes claimed a 36-11 victory in the seventh-grade matchup.

T-town held a 17-4 first half lead and had a 15-5 final period. Elise Pals and Kylie Borries tallied 10 points each. South Central was led by Peddicord with four.

In the eighth-grade contest, T-town held South Central scoreless for a 63-0 victory.

Anna Probst scored 20 for the winners while nine other players scored in the game.
