Cody Rincker has been hired as the boys varsity basketball coach at St. Anthony High School.

Rincker has also been hired to teach fifth grade at St. Anthony Grade School.  He succeeds Mark Tovey as coach.  Tovey was not re-hired after three seasons as Bulldogs coach.

St. Anthony High School Principal Greg Fearday said, "Coach Rincker is an excellent teacher of the game and will provide tremendous leadership to the boys at St. Anthony.  He will instill a great work ethic and is more than capable of continuing the tradition of St. Anthony basketball."

For her part, St. Anthony Grade School Principal Brandi Borries said, "We would like to welcome Cody to the St. Anthony Grade School staff and look forward to having him as part of our team."

Rincker has spent the past two years at St. Elmo schools.  In addition to his teaching duties, Rincker served as assistant basketball coach at St. Elmo High School and the head basketball and baseball coach at St. Elmo Junior High School.

Cody is a National Trail Conference byproduct, having played high school basketball at Stewardson-Strasburg.  He went on to play at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.

Rincker is married to the former Nicole Goeckner of Effingham.

In accepting the position, Rincker said, "I am flattered and humbled to have an opportunity to coach and teach at St. Anthony High School and Grade School.  I would like to wish the best of luck to St. Elmo and wish them the best moving forward, and thank them for all of their support over the last couple years.  I am excited about the future and I am looking forward to getting started!"
