Lake Land, Parkland Advance In Women's Tourney

Lake Land College and Parkland College both advanced in the NJCAA Division II National Women's Basketball Tournament with victories Tuesday.
Lake Land downed Lackawanna, 75-53. The Lakers edged out to a 13-11 opening quarter lead then had a whopping 21-8 second period run and that settled the contest.
Teutopolis graduate Olivia Niemerg tallied nine points for Lake Land and had two steals, two assists and three rebounds.
Efifngham graduate Abby Weis scored eight points, had one blocked shot, one steal, one assist and one rebound.
Altamont graduate Joanna Schultz played two minutes.
Lake Land, seeded No. 2, advances to meet No. 10 USC Salkehatchie at 8 p.m. today.
Parkland College defeated Muskegon, 58-37. Parkland trailed 25-24 at halftime then came back with a 15-8 third quarter run and outscored Muskegon 19-4 in the final period.
Claire Wilhour, a Brownstown/St. Elmo graduate, finished with three points for Parkland with one steal, two assists and two rebounds.
No. 6 Parkland will take on No. 14 Union County at 6 p.m. today
