In seventh-grade play, Effingham was a 36-4 winner.
The Mustangs ran off to a 14-0 opening quarter lead and held Mattoon scoreless in the final period with an 11-0 run.
Martin scored 10 for the Mustangs. Donaldson pulled down 14 rebounds.
In eighth-grade action, Effingham and Mattoon was tied at 13-13 at halftime and Mattoon moved ahead 14-13 in the third quarter. But in the final period, Effingham came back and the score was tied at 18-18 sending the game into overtime. In the overtime period, Effingham outscored Mattoon 5-0 for the 23-18 victory.
Beals tallied nine to lead Effingham.

At Taylorville
Teutopolis split victories with Taylorville in Monday action.
The Wooden Shoes improved to 5-1 with a 38-7 win in seventh-grade play.
T-town took a 25-2 halftime lead and never looked back. Malea Helmink led the way with eight points for the Shoes. T-town improved to 5-1.
In the eighth-grade game, Taylorville stepped out to a 20-3 opening quarter lead and held off T-town for a 39-29 victory.
Chloe Probst led the Shoes with eight points. T-town dropped to 2-3.

At Kinmundy
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City claimed the eighth-grade game while South Central was a winner in the seventh-grade contest Monday.
South Central edged CHBC 19-18 in seventh-grade play. CHBC held a 7-4 first half lead before South Central held CHBC scoreless with a 6-0 third quarter run and then had to hold on for the win.
Reid taliied nine for the winners. Isabella Davis scored five for CHBC who dropped to 3-4 in the National Trail Conference, 4-5 overall.
In eighth-grade action, CHBC was a 34-14 winner with a 22-8 first half lead.
Macee Rodman led the way with 13 points for CHBC, which improves to 4-3 in the conference, 5-4 overall.
South Central was led by Logan with four.
